Deepening Local Democratic Governance through Social Accountability

Deepening Local Democratic Governance through Social Accountability works to enhance organized civic action and participation through mobilization, Municipality building, campaigns and participatory monitoring in ensuring accountability. It intends to enhance citizens’ access to information and basic services by developing partnership with elected municipalities to establish ‘models’ of social accountability mechanisms, particularly using citizen charters, pro-active information disclosures and public grievance redressal mechanisms. Its objective is to improve democratic practices in Ta Khmau Municipality governance institutions through social accountability for improving the provisions of basic services (water and sanitation) to the urban poor households. The achievement is to do the research on community needs and problems and to create citizen groups.
