Visit of Director of the Office of Public Diplomacy for East Asia and Pacific to Access Program of KAD – Kampong Speu

On February 09, 2015, Ms. Robin Diallo, Director of the Office of Public Diplomacy for East Asia and Pacific, together with two other senior officers of US embassy to Cambodia, visited the English Access Micro scholarship Program that is being implemented by KAD in Trakiet village, Trapaing Kong commune, Samraong Tong district, Kampong Speu province. During her visit, she met with 12 past and 26 new Access students and talked about music, sports, education in America, both Cambodian and American pop singers and then she asked the questions to the participants. The Access students were divided into six groups and each assigned their respective representatives to ask the questions in terms of education, culture, environment, employment and human rights. Then the FY2010 Access students did the presentation in terms of their own project that has been conducted for the sake of most vulnerable children in their communities. At the end of meeting, all students and visitors took photos together as souvenir. All the representatives of the groups expressed themselves that such a meeting was very good; they could receive some information about scholarship in America, American culture such as sports and valentine day, and experience from both visitors and ex-Access students; they could have a great chance to improve their English and to be aware of the subjects learned by American high school students in America; they had an opportunity to talk to the former Access students and even cultivated a good relation with them as well.
